We intend to establish a series of workshops for anyone of Pasifika origin who is interested in the film-making process, whether it be as a writer, producer, director, actor or technician. By doing so, we hope to nurture self-confidence and guide potential talent toward further education. Emerging themes from the Pacific include climate change; human rights, gender and cross-cultural issues together with nutritional & mental health challenges. All of these and more are open for discussion and realisation.
TRAVELLING FILM FESTIVAL
A selection of the best from the Pasifika Film Fest will go on tour to a number of Pacific Island nations to be screened to audiences who would otherwise never have the opportunity to view productions that speak to their culture. In association with the scholarship programme, we envisage the evolution and emergence of unique young story-tellers with grass-roots perspective and an enthusiasm to connect the traditional with the contemporary.
We are seeking sponsors who would be proud to fund scholarships for ambitious young Pasifika creatives from remote locations to study film at Australian establishments.
COMMUNITY AND EDUCATION LIAISONS
We are looking at creating partnerships between Pasifika community organisations and educational facilities with the objective of facilitating pathways for the study of filmmaking.
